"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
First and foremost, we are brothers
In the fall of 2021, I found community in the small group of Black men at Harvard Kennedy School. Every week we found the time to sit together and talk about our community and the work we were doing to build and to heal our community. We spoke about the people who mentored us, the people who taught us, and the people who opened doors for us. I didn’t know it yet, but that was the day that Frè Yo was born.
I’ve had the good fortune of being mentored by great men and women. Those people gave me their time, talent, and grace making it possible for me to have many great opportunities. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to mentor bright young people looking for their next challenge. Frè Yo is that next challenge.
We challenge you to learn about yourself. We challenge you to learn about your people. We challenge you to set your goals higher than you ever thought was possible. Then we challenge you to accomplish even more than that. We believe in you. We are proud of you. We will not let you fail.
WHAT WE DO
At Frè Yo we specifically want to give young brothers what they need to
We are more than a mentorship organization.
We are a community and a network of people who share and give our time, talent, and resources to help connect young people with what they need to reach their goals. We do this by creating programming that highlights education, career, and experiential opportunities they may be interested in.
We provide monthly video check-ins for our brothers to learn about their accomplishments, goals, and what they need to reach those goals.
Finally, we provide a network that helps those brothers get the resources that they are looking for whether it is paid internships, standardized testing materials, college admissions prep, resume assistance. We are here to help our brothers in any way we can.
Mentorship Never Ends
